I do know that www.vinuxprojectorg did release a command line version based on Debian with many enhancements including speakup and espeak so that the console can speak and drive an external brailler for the blind. But this system works lightning fast for the command line desktop user. surfraw was included in the later cli versions which a great add on.

I wished you had followed through on something like this. Command Line is getting more and more difficult to find - or you can download a server edition only to find out there is no sound.

DRDavidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11291007091903744433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1150612715821998653.post-76227974192720937702011-04-09T08:08:14.642-07:002011-04-09T08:08:14.642-07:00Thanks bro...nice reading. Maybe their web client does something smarter (for example authenticates only once and not for every request, or cache things)

I have not tried the vim sweet, but might if I find the time:)PeterStJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04425523630769302410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1150612715821998653.post-53007478139609917342011-01-30T18:00:17.697-08:002011-01-30T18:00:17.697-08:00Thank you for the post. Slackware and generally Lin...I think you are right. Slackware and generally Linux is too difficult for you and really not worth it given your lack of skill and knowledge. I believe you should install Vista and play Counterstrike. They also both have a CLI... Also you wouldn't be fooling us that you want to be productive. In fact you just want to muck about and frequently screw up and then feel obliged to whine about it and pollute the internet with your fails.

Why on earth do you people even run Linux in the first place? It's obvious from your petty posts (like Aaron there who doesn't understand why one would compile from source - amazing really. Or Jared there yonder who is amazed that Linux doesn't just yank away the proprietary Ms Word .doc format and use it - dude, linux was meant to use latex, don't use it though, you'll sprain a neuron), that you have absolutely no clue what you're doing? Just install Vista - if you really want to persist in lieing to yourself about "productivity", you can install gcc just as well on Vista!

Then again, both you and I know that you're not referring to gcc or opensource when you're talking about "productivity". You're rather taking productivity in the sense of torrent downloads, playing games, browsing porn, impressing your friends and, in the best case, using a word processor for your school homework.

You don't like Vista? You want a server? Leaving aside the fact that I don't believe you - nor would I want to be in your network given the things you complain about, you can get w2k3 or w2k8 instead.

As for, "oh but Vista or w2k3/w2k8 are not free", please... If you want to delude yourself that you are installing rtorrent to download opensource software, that's perfectly fine. However, that's one lie I wouldn't believe (and nobody else will, except if they want to take an argumentation standpoint and offer a different perspective just for the sake of argument).

Don't you sometimes sit back and think at your paradox? Somewhere along the lines "damn, I installed this Linux shit to muck about and now I realise I don't want to get my hands dirty".

I'm seriously concerned. I've seen an increasing, as well as scary, number of posts by clueless people like you which show up in search engines and mislead serious people into thinking there might be something in the least bit informative here.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14198870586492953361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1150612715821998653.post-20168276157399072362010-08-31T08:02:06.070-07:002010-08-31T08:02:06.070-07:00Of course in Vim there's always another way :-...Of course in Vim there's always another way :-)

Place the cursor where you want the text to go and use :read filename.txt to insert that text without ever leaving the current window or opening the other file.

This assumes you want most or all of filename.txthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15422806015794351873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1150612715821998653.post-13880569142953386832010-08-31T00:35:55.578-07:002010-08-31T00:35:55.578-07:00Hey Jared, long time no see (AX).
